Contribute as a Reviewer
Anyone has the ability to report an issue to the specification working group or suggest improvements, but they must first execute the AMQP Reviewer License Agreement (RLA) either as an individual or as a corporation.
Through the RLA you provide a license for the AMQP Working Group to use your feedback, allowing it to be incorporated into the specification whilst keeping the specification open and royalty free. The need to sign the RLA in order to contribute is not unusual; our process is similar to those used by the W3C and the Apache Software Foundation.
This approach means that the specification will always be open and implementable by anyone without royalty or commercial limitation. We feel that this is a very strong model for keeping this work entirely open.
How to Execute the Reviewer Agreement
- Print and complete the AMQP Reviewer License Agreement
- Scan it as a PDF, TIFF or JPEG image. It is very important that the agreement text, your email address and signature are all clearly visible and legible in the image
- Email the image to amqp.contact@gmail.com
- Wait for us to confirm receipt by email; we will add you to the necessary forums
- Send us your comments!

In most cases, the RLA will be sufficient to enable you to suggest improvements and view ongoing work to the AMQP Specification or Work in Progress. However if you wish to participate in extending AMQP into new areas, you might consider joining the AMQP Working Group.
The AMQP Working Group accepts new members by a vote of the Working Group PMC. Prospective members can approach the AMQP Working Group.
Please note that the responsibilities of a Member are much higher than those of a Reviewer. In particular you will need to involve your lawyer since there are commitments to grant patent licenses for necessary technologies to AMQP. Consequently membership is best suited to corporations. The upside, however, is a strong visible association with AMQP.
Unless you are planning on making a strategic corporate commitment to AMQP we would encourage you to be a Reviewer first.
